Finish Line Mathematics, Third Edition is the extra boost students need to reinforce college and career readiness standards and prepare for state assessments. Lessons supplement core basal programs with concise, simply-presented instruction and practice. See our online diagnostic assessments.
Student books are divided into units that parallel the domains in the Common Core at grade level.
Practice for Assessment-Type Items
A mix of question types, including those on Common Core assessments, is found in the unit reviews and Independent Practice sections.
Get Ready to Learn
The first unit reviews big ideas from the previous grade with four-to-five topics that are key to new concepts in the current grade. This allows the students to refresh their skills in these areas before building on them to learn new ideas.
This series uses the gradual release model—from teacher-led instruction to individual student work—in a four-part lesson format: Skill Introduction, Focused Instruction, Guided Practice, and Independent Practice.
Flash cards and a glossary are provided for key concepts and vocabulary presented in the book.
Annotated teacher’s editions include suggestions for use/teaching strategies; objective for each lesson; student book pages with correct answers, correlations to the Common Core and Depth of Knowledge (DOK), and answer rationales for items in the Independent Practice; extension activity/hands-on activity and vocabulary for each lesson; reproducible cut-out tools; and connections to the Standards for Mathematical Practice.
Student Answer Booklets – Great for Hybrid Instruction Models!
After students record their responses in the student answer booklets, you can check and grade their work, and return the booklets to them. Follow-up using direct instruction via virtual or in-class modeling. Booklets can easily go from school to home.
Student Book: grades 1 and 2 include 300 pages; grades 3-8 include 310-328 pages
