"Continental was my father's vision and I'm proud to see it through. He helped teachers and students overcome the daily challenges of academics."

Daniel Raffensperger
CEO

Continental is a K-12 educational publisher serving schools across the United States and around the world. It was founded in 1937 by Horace E. Raffensperger, a supervising school principal. He saw that textbooks alone weren't enough for many students to learn, and the addition of supplemental materials could positively impact their performance. Today, Continental continues to fill the latest teaching and curriculum needs in schools. Topics and subjects include early literacy, reading, English language arts, mathematics, state test preparation, Common Core State Standards, and programs for English language learners (ELLs).

Over the years, Continental has expanded its print and digital offerings to support special needs, differentiated instruction, intervention, and general classroom learning. In 2002, Seedling Publications joined the Continental family, bringing with it a comprehensive line of K-2 early literacy and parental involvement materials.

The addition of Common Core State Standards programs began in 2010 immediately following the release of the standards. Continental was one of the first publishers to respond and continues to be a leader in Common Core support.
