Program Overview
Our phonics intervention program provides a research-based, systematic approach to direct phonics instruction. Delightful full-color photography and an exciting design will keep today's at-risk students engaged.

The core of the program is Chall-Popp Phonics. Its step-by-step approach guides students to mastery of phonemic awareness and sound letter knowledge, and the easy-to-use unit structure will help teachers streamline instruction. A Phonics Progress Indicator skill inventory can be used at the beginning of the program to determine each student's areas of weakness. Built-in Intervention Strategies in the Annotated Teacher's Edition and assessments for every unit will ensure that every student is making adequate progress.

Many support materials are also included. Find Out Readers help your students put their phonics skills to use through nonfiction reading. These books also contain content from your state's academic standards, so they help students get ready for state testing. Continental Press believes that highly motivating materials are a key to student engagement. That's what you'll find in all of our Readers, including our Seedling Readers and our Find Out Readers.

An important component of the Intervention Program is its strong Parental Involvement strand. Parent Letters at the beginning of each unit tell parents just what their child will be working on, and a take-home story at the end of the unit helps them see their child's progress. When a Child Reads..., the Partners Bookmarks, and Help Your Child Learn to Read help parents use key strategies at home with their children to teach and promote reading.
