Phonics Intervention Package, Grade 1

The grade 1 Phonics Intervention Package is a research-based program that provides a systematic approach to direct phonics instruction. It is presented in an easy-to-use format that helps streamline instruction.

Program Overview
The core of the program, Chall-Popp Phonics, provides a step-by-step approach to help students master all levels of phonemic awareness and sound letter knowledge. The Annotated Teacher's Edition features built-in Intervention Strategies and assessments for every unit to ensure that every student is making adequate progress. Using Phonics Progress Indicators, the teacher takes a skill inventory on each student to determine areas of weakness at the beginning of the program. Phonics Readers provide focused practice with decoding skills for long vowels and consonant blends. Both On Our Way to Reading workbooks promote phonemic awareness through two- and three-phoneme words, blending, and substituting initial consonants. The decodable stories at the end of each book let students share their new skills at home.

This package also contains a strong Parental Involvement strand including Parent Letters located in the beginning of each Chall-Popp Phonics unit so parents will know what their child is working on. When a Child ReadsÉ, the Partners Bookmarks, and Help Your Child Learn to Read help parents use successful strategies to teach and promote reading.
