 Continental is a family-owned company that has been publishing K-12 educational materials for over 65 years. Its founder, Horace E. Raffensperger, a supervising school principal in the 1930s, saw that students could benefit by having supplemental materials that would go along with their textbooks. From this inspiration, he founded
Continental in 1937.
Over the years, Continental has increased its staff to nearly 100 employees and has expanded its product offerings to include materials for students at many levels of learning, and professional resources for educators. In 2002, Seedling Publications joined the CP family, bringing with it a comprehensive line of K-2 early literacy and parental involvement materials.
